Acura TSX Sedan 2012 Special Edition with Modest Sporty Touches – Latest photos & review of Acura TSX Sedan 2012 autos: Acura continues the celebration of its 25th anniversary with the launch of a new version of the 2012 TSX sedan named Special Edition that is available exclusively with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine.

The Japanese company says the new model was “designed to evoke the fun-to-drive 4-cylinder Acuras of the past” (so does that mean it’s current portfolio isn’t “fun-to-drive”?), which in reality translates to a subtle aero package, added standard equipment and the availability of a manual gearbox.

On the outside, the TSX SE gains a front apron, a new rear bumper fascia, side skirts, a set of Special Edition badges and bespoke 17-inch alloy wheels featuring a polished finish with dark grey background.

Interior upgrades include a variety of cosmetic appointments such as the seating surfaces in perforated black Lux Suede inserts and red backing, red stitching for the seats, steering wheel and the shift knob, plus red lighting for the instrument cluster gauges, overhead lighting and footwell lighting.

The aluminum pedal covers and the bright silver plating for the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters along with black headliner material complete the look.

As previously noted, the TSX Special Edition is powered by the firm’s K24 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine available with either a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox or a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission.

Sales will begin in late September with the TSX SE to make its first public outing at the Orange County International Auto Show on September 22nd.

Acura Recalling More Than 167,000 TSX Sedans for Fire Hazard: Honda Motors’ Acura division is recalling 167,255 of its 2004 – 2008 MY TSX sedans with the 2.4-liter inline-four in the U.S. because the power steering hose can potentially deteriorate prematurely and leak fluids causing a fire hazard.

“Oil leaking onto a hot exhaust pipe will generate smoke and a burning smell, and could potentially result in an under hood fire,” Honda said in a notice on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

This latest recall comes only two weeks after Honda recalled approximately 1,850 Acura ZDX crossovers for a potential air-bag problem.

The Japanese automaker said that it will notify TSX owners and dealers will repair the affected vehicles free of charge. The repair involves installing a new power steering hose, o-ring gasket and fluid. The safety recall is expected to begin on or about May 28, 2010.

2011-Acura-TSX-Sport-Wagon

Along with an increased rear cargo space over the saloon, the TSX Sport Wagon also features a removable side panel to accommodate wider items such as golf clubs and integrated under-floor bins for hidden storage.

Whereas the sedan variant of the TSX is offered with a choice of 201HP 2.4-liter inline-four or a 280HP 3.5-liter V6, the station wagon will be launched exclusively with the four-pot hooked up to a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.

The 2011 TSX Sport Wagon join Acura’s lineup late this fall with pricing to be announced later in the year.

Acura MDX Auto 2010: The refreshed 2010 Acura MDX SUV goes on sale at Acura’s U.S. dealerships today with prices starting at $42,230, plus a destination and handling (D&H) charge of $810 which comes to a total of $43,040. For 2010, the MDX receives some styling and equipment updates along with a new 6-speed automatic transmission and a tweaked 3.7-liter V6 that generates 300HP and 270 lb-ft of torque, returning an improved EPA estimated 16mpg city and 21mpg highway.
Visually, the 7-passenger SUV is distinguished by the new bumpers, revised taillights, polished stainless-steel exhaust finishers, redesigned alloy wheels and how can we forget, the adoption of Acura’s corporate chrome grille.

The list with the interior updates for the 2010 model year MDX include the expanded use of Milano Premium Leather, a new sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, new gauges, the availability of ventilated front seats and upgraded interior trim.

Acura notes that the base version of the 2010 MDX which is priced 3 percent higher than the 2009MY, receives a plethora of new standard content including a power rear tailgate, steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with integrated rear view camera screen, LED backlit instrumentation, a new hill start assist feature and premium floormats.

2010 Acura ZDX: The all-new 2010 ZDX four-door-sports-coupe-slash-crossover (take your pick…) goes on sale at Acura dealerships across the U.S. on December 15 with a starting price of $45,495 plus, plus a destination and handling charge of $810. The ZDX will be offered exclusively with a 3.7-liter VTEC V6 that makes 300 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, while Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system is also standard.

According to Acura, the new ZDX achieves an EPA-rated fuel economy of 16mpg in the city and 23mpg on the highway.

The 2010 ZDX will be available in three trim packages: the base ZDX, ZDX with Technology Package and the ZDX with Advance Package.

Priced at $46,305, the base trim-level comes equipped with what Acura describes as ‘the world’s longest panoramic glass roof’ and hand-stitched leather dash, center console and door panels as standard.

In addition to the above features, the ZDX with Technology Package that is priced at $50,805 (including destination and handling fees) gets a Navigation System with Voice Recognition, a full VGA display screen, a multi-view rear camera, an upgraded Acura/ELS Surround 415-watt audio system with a built-in 15GB media storage system, a GPS-linked, solar-sensing, dual-zone automatic climate control system and Keyless Access System.

The ZDX with Advance Package ($56,045 including destination and handling fees) adds a blind spot information system (BSI), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigating Braking System (CMBS), an Integrated Dynamic System (IDS) active damper system, heated and ventilated front seats with Perforated Milano Premium Leather seating surfaces, premium brushed tricot headliner material and a sport steering wheel.
