Chevrolet Sonic 2012 with 1.4L Turbo with new price & reviews – Latest photos of Chevrolet Sonic 2012: General Motor has released the official EPA fuel economy estimates for the new 2012 Chevrolet Sonic sub-compact, which officially joins the 40mpg club.

When equipped with the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 138-horsepower and 148 ft.-lbs. (200 Nm) of torque, the 2012 Sonic returns an EPA-estimated 40 mpg on the highway and city fuel economy of 29 mpg. The 1.4 Turbo is offered exclusively with a 6-speed manual.

If you opt for the larger displacement but naturally aspirated 1.8-liter unit that generates 135HP and 123 lb.-ft. of torque (167 Nm), the Sonic gets fuel economy of 26 mpg city and 35 mpg highway when matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and 25 mpg city and 35 mpg highway when paired to the 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Sonic went on sale earlier this month with a starting price of $14,495 including destination but excluding tax, title, license and dealer fees.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 2012: new photos and reviews: In a predictably linear fashion, General Motors has uprated the output numbers of one of its new models just before it launches onto the market.

When GM revealed the new 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at this year’s edition of the Chicago Auto Show in February, the company said the coupe’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 would deliver an estimated 550 horsepower and a massive 550 lb.-ft. of torque (745 Nm).

Fast forward to today, and those numbers have jumped to 580-horsepower and 556 lb.-ft. (754 Nm).

Not that we’re complaining, but for those of you with a weaker memory, let us remind you that GM did the same with the Cadillac CTS-V, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and many other models in the past.

Billed as the most powerful production Camaro ever, ZL1 links the force-fed V8 engine to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, with the latter featuring three drive modes including “Drive” where the shift pattern is calibrated for optimal fuel economy, “Sport” which is aimed for aggressing driving and “Manual” that has no automatic up shifts.

The ZL1 will also get GM’s erformance Traction Management (PTM) as standard equipment. The system, which was first introduced on the Corvette ZR1, integrates magnetic ride control, launch control, traction control and electronic stability control, to improve performance on the racetrack and drag strip. The PTM offers five different driving modes.

On the outside, there’s a new chrome mesh grille matched with either a chrome surround on LS and LT models or a body-color surround on the LTZ, while LS and LT models now sport a silver-painted lower bumper fascia and a new 20-inch alloy wheel design.

GM also introduced four new exterior colors, including Silver Ice Metallic, Mocha Steel Metallic, Carbon Flash Metallic, and Graystone, plus two new interior color combinations, Dark Titanium/Light Titanium and Dark Cashmere/Light Cashmere.

Furthermore, the LTZ version gets the Z60 suspension package, 20-inch alloy rims, touring tires and a chrome tow hook and exhaust tip package.

Finally, Chevrolet has re-introduced the Custom Sport Truck package with updated content that includes:

Chevrolet Cruze Diesel 2013 for the USA, Sales Start in 2013 – Latest Photos & details Chevrolet Cruze Diesel 2013: We’d heard rumors that a diesel-powered version of the Chevrolet Cruze was being readied for the U.S., but now it’s official as General Motors announced today that the diesel variant will be added to the compact model’s North American lineup in calendar year 2013.

However, that’s about all we get from GM as the Detroit company stated that it will release further details on the car at a later date.

Currently, the most fuel efficient model in the Cruze range is the Eco model featuring a standard six-speed manual gearbox with an EPA-rated 42 mpg (equal to 5.6lt/100km) on the highway.

Chevrolet already offers the Cruze with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine in other regions including Europe and Australia.

The latest version of the 2.0-liter oil burner delivers 161HP (120kW / 163PS) at 3,800rpm and 360 Nm (265.5 lb-ft) of peak torque at 1,750 rpm.

It’s fuel economy on the combined European cycle (which can’t be directly compared to U.S. combined figures) is rated at 5.6 lt/100km [42mpg US] when equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox and at 6.7lt/100km [35.1mpg US] with the optional six-speed automatic.

Chevrolet Sonic 2012 Autos: released pricing For Sedan and Hatchback – Latest photos & details of Chevrolet Sonic Sedan and Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback 2012: GM has just released pricing information on its North American replacement for the Chevrolet Aveo, the new Sonic.

When the subcompact model goes on sale in the U.S. this fall, it will be available in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback body styles with prices including destination to start from US$14,495 and US$15,395 (€10,290 – €10,930) respectively.

There are three trim levels, LS, LT and LTZ. The base models are offered with a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 135HP, coupled to a standard five-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission priced at $1,070.

For an additional $700, buyers of the Sonic LT and LTZ can opt for the 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine with 138HP that’s expected to return 40 mpg on the highway.

Standard features across the range include 10 air bags, electronic stability control with rollover sensing, traction control, anti-lock brakes, alloy wheels, OnStar with navigation, air conditioning, power door locks with remote keyless entry and tilt/telescoping steering wheel.

Production of the new Chevy Sonic will begin this fall at GM’s Orion Assembly Center in Michigan.

Chevrolet Cruze 2012 Improves Fuel and Adds New Standard Features – Latest photos & details of Chevrolet Cruze 2012: General Motors is releasing a model year update for its Cruze compact sedan.

There are no styling changes as the company focused its attention on improving the car’s fuel economy and equipment features.

Thanks to a lower axle ratio for the 2012 models equipped with a six speed automatic transmission, the standard Cruze with the 138HP 1.4-liter turbocharged engine returns 38 mpg compared with 36 mpg for the current model, while the Cruze Eco with the same powetrain setup delivers 39 mpg instead of 37 mpg.

The Cruze Eco with the standard six-speed manual gearbox remains unchanged for 2012 returning 42 mpg on the highway.

Other than that, GM has enhanced the standard features across the range with the addition of Bluetooth phone connectivity, USB port, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a leather-wrapped shift knob. These features were part of the $525 Connectivity Plus Cruise option package on 2011 models. According to the Detroit automaker, the option was ordered by 90 percent of American customers.

“Chevrolet is committed to responding to what customers want and making it easier for them,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “Adding these previously optional features streamlines the ordering process and answers the call of what our customers told us should be standard.”

Additional standard equipment on the 2012 Cruze includes:

Chevrolet Impala 2012 3.6-liter V6 SIDI – Latest photos and details of  Chevrolet Impala 2012 3.6-liter V6 SIDI: While it may not be the redesign Chevrolet fans were hoping for, nevertheless, five years after the introduction of the current Impala onto the market in 2006, General Motors is updating its full size sedan with some barely noticeable cosmetic changes and a new standard engine for the 2012 model year.

The most significant change is of course the adoption of General Motor’s latest 3.6-liter V6 engine with direct-injection technology and E85 Flex-fuel capability, linked to a standard six-speed automatic transmission. The preliminary spec-sheet does not refer to performance numbers, but it has been reported that the V6 should be good for around 302-horsepower.

The mechanical updates are complemented by some minor styling changes up front, namely the new mesh grille and fog light surrounds, and at the rear, along with a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels and changes to the available equipment packages.

With the 2012 model year update, GM hopes to keep interest up on the Impala as a brand new replacement isn’t due for another two to three years.

Chevrolet Releases 2012 Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback and Sedan at European Market – Latest photos & info of Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback and Sedan 2012: This past January at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, General Motor unveiled the new Chevrolet Sonic in final production form.

Available in both five-door hatchback and four-door sedan body styles, the Sonic will reach U.S. showrooms this fall. In Europe, however, GM will continue to use the Aveo nameplate when its supermini goes on sale later this summer.

According to Chevrolet’s European division, the Aveo is designed to appeal at the “young and young-at-heart”, with the sedan model being a more suitable offering for young families, particularly in the southern and eastern parts of Europe where a four-door saloon is more often than not the only car in the household. The four-door has a boot volume of 502 liters, while the hatch reaches 653 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

Chevrolet says the new Aveo has one of the most rigid chassis in the segment, with the upper body and the frame engineered as a single unit, thus ensuring a stiffer and lighter structure.

We’re already familiar with the Aveo’s styling from the U.S.-spec Sonic, so let’s skip to the engines. In Europe, the new Aveo will be available with a choice of four petrol units and, for the first time in a small Chevrolet, a diesel powerplant.

The gasoline engine range includes two 1.2-liter versions rated at 70 horsepower and 86 horsepower, a 1.4-liter unit good for 100-horses and a 1.6-liter engine developing 115 horsepower.

The most fuel-efficient version is the 86HP 1.2-liter engine, rated at 5.1 liters/100 km (US 46.1 mpg) and 119 g of CO2 per kilometer, while the 1.6-liter unit averages 6.6 liters/100 km (US 35.6 mpg).

Starting this autumn, Chevrolet will also offer a 1.3-liter turbo diesel engine featuring common-rail fuel injection, start/stop technology and a variable-geometry turbocharger. Another first for a Chevrolet small car will be a six-speed automatic gearbox, but the carmaker has not yet revealed which engine will make use of it. Country-specific prices will be announced closer to the launch date.

Chevrolet Malibu 2013 GM Build & Sell in Korea – Latest info of Chevrolet Malibu 2013: General Motors is quite serious about selling its upcoming 2013 Chevrolet Malibu on a global scale. So serious, in fact, that the Detroit automaker is making plans to built the mid-size model on several continents.

Today, GM revealed that will build and sell the redesigned Malibu sedan in Korea. We’ll remind you that earlier this year, GM Korea announced it is replacing the Daewoo nameplate with the Chevrolet brand for the local market.

Surprisingly, the first country to get the new Malibu won’t be the States, but South Korea with production set to begin in Bupyeong, Korea this fall, followed by Jingjiao, China, at the end of 2011 and then Fairfax, Kansas and Detroit-Hamtramck, in the U.S., in early 2012.

“Adding Korea as a key sales market for the new Malibu further increases the brand’s global presence and continues our growth path while increasing our car offerings to consumers in Korea,” said Russ Clark, Chevrolet Product Director.

GM also said that there’s growing interest for the Malibu in Korea, despite the fact that the midsize sedan has never been officially sold in the country. The Detroit automaker said that members of Malibu-related Internet clubs total about 30,000 in South Korea, despite the fact that the midsize sedan has never been officially sold in the country. However, this shouldn’t come as a surprise for those with some knowledge of the local car culture as there are myriads of dedicated online clubs for all models.

The new Malibu received its world premiere at the New York and Shanghai auto shows last week. It will be sold in nearly 100 markets on six continents, with each region getting specific engine choices. Up until now, we know that North America will get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 190HP+ and a 2.4-liter ECO unit with the eAssist system delivering 180HP, while China will receive 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter naturally aspirated fours, and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine.

In addition to the gasoline range, the European market version of the Malibu is expected to be offered with several diesel options as well.

Chevrolet Sonic Z Spec 2012 at New York International Auto Show 2011 – Latest info Chevrolet Sonic Z Spec 2012 autos: What you see pictured here is a Z-Spec accessorized 2012 Sonic and it will debut at the New York International Auto Show to officially launch Chevy’s new line of aftermarket bits that will be available before the end of the year.

Chevrolet gave us our first look at its new accessory lineup with the Z-Spec concept versions of the Cruze, Spark and Volt at the 2010 SEMA show.

For the new Sonic, which replaces the Aveo in the States, the Z-Spec range will initially focus on cosmetic improvements.

Available bits will include a full bodykit comprising of front and rear aprons, rocker panel extensions and a silver exhaust tip, contrasting mirror caps and roof spoiler, contrasting upper and lower grille surrounds and a body graphics package like the one you see here.

Also on the menu are bespoke 16- and 17-inch painted alloy wheels along with color accent packages in “Black Out” or “White Out” paint schemes. Interior upgrades include aluminum sport pedals and sill plates. Chevrolet plans to add more accessories to the lineup in the near future.

The Fiesta-sized Sonic will go on sale in the U.S. this fall in two body styles, a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback. Buyers will be able to choose between two powertrains, a standard 1.8-liter Ecotec engine with 135HP paired to five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec engine with 138HP that’s expected to return 40 mpg on the highway.

Chevrolet Malibu 2013 Autos – Latest info of Chevrolet Malibu 2013:  We now have our first glimpse at the exterior of all-new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The new mid-size sedan from GM appears to sport a robust look with a sculpted face featuring the classic split Chevrolet grille.

Aside from the leaked image, General Motors also released a new picture of the Malibu’s interior showcasing the new radio face that articulates up and down revealing a six-inch-deep hidden, illuminated storage compartment, which the company says is a first for a U.S. mid-size sedan.

Unless someone decides to offer us another sneak preview, we’ll have to wait until April 18 for the full reveal of the 2013 Malibu. As a refresher, the new iteration of the Malibu will be Chevy’s first global mid-size sedan as it will built in various locations and sold across the globe.

Chevrolet Camaro 45th SE 2012 gets Revised V6 with 323HP – Latest info of Chevrolet Camaro 45th SE 2012 Autos: For the 2012 model year, Chevrolet offers the Camaro with a host of improvements to celebrate the iconic pony car’s 45th anniversary.

The 3.6-liter V6 engine has been upgraded to develop 323 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, an increase of 11 horsepower over the 2011 engine while fuel consumption remains at 30 mpg (7.84 l/100 km) on the highway.

The revised engine is 20.5 pounds (9.3 kg) lighter and benefits from a thorough rework, including new cylinder head design, larger intake valves, new fuel pump and optimized-flow fuel injectors, among other changes.

2012MY Camaro SS coupes will be available with a new FE4 sport suspension, which improves handling. “We applied lessons learned from extensive track testing to better refine the suspension geometry for flatter cornering, a more neutral balance during hard turns, and minimized understeer at the limit,” says Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer.

The new suspension package includes retuned front and rear dampers, new solid front (23 mm) and rear (24 mm) stabilizer bars and 20-inch aluminum wheels.

The interior revisions for the 2012 model year Camaro concern the revamped instrument panel with different graphics and trim, a new steering wheel design (which looks exactly like the one found in the Sonic…) and a power lift feature for the passenger seat.

A new added feature is the Rear Vision Package, which consists of a rearview camera system. On the outside, the 2012 Camaro gets a new rear spoiler and the RS appearance taillamps as standard.

Chevrolet will also launch a 45th Anniversary Special Edition Camaro, set to be unveiled on April 15 in Arizona at the Camaro5 Fest II. The anniversary package will be offered on the top two trim levels (2LT and 2SS), for both coupe and convertible models. Special edition Camaros carry over all the 2012 upgrades and feature a unique rally stripe in red and silver painted over the Carbon Flash Metallic paint.

Model-specific exterior details include 45th Anniversary badges on the front fenders, new 20-inch dark silver wheels, RS-style taillamp lenses, fog lamp and taillamp bezels finished in dark silver, standard rear spoiler and HID headlamps and body-color roof molding.

On the inside, the 45th anniversary Camaro features a Jet Black interior with leather upholstery, a white instrument panel and door trim inserts, red, white and blue stitching on the seats, steering wheel, shift knob, door armrests and console lid. The 45th Anniversary logo can be found on the seats, steering wheel and sill plates.
