Porsche  MY 911 GT3 2012 at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 – Latest photos & review of Porsche  MY 911 GT3 2012: The all-new 911, code-named 991, may be just around the corner with its debut coming next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but that doesn’t mean that Porsche is done with the soon-to-be-replaced 997.

At least not with its racing version, the GT3 Cup, which with more than 2,200 units sold, is the number one preference for customer racing teams worldwide.

Now, Porsche has unveiled the 2012MY 911 GT3 Cup. It is based on the 991 (997) GT3 RS, with the 3.8-liter flat-six engine producing an identical 450HP at 8,500 rpm.

However, it does get a race exhaust system that features a controlled catalytic converter to reduce CO2 emissions.

The new GT3 Cup has a larger 100-liter FT3 safety fuel tank, which is filled via an opening in the hood. According to Porsche, this change makes the car more suitable for a wider range of endurance racing.

The Porsche racer rides on 18-inch wheels shod in 25/64-18 front and 30/68-18 Michelin racing tires.

Both the front and rear anti-roll bars are adjustable in seven positions in order to achieve a customized set-up for each occasion.

In addition, the Porsche Mobil1 Supercar racers, which support the F1 championship, get exclusive use of the PCCB Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes that, compared to the composite cast units used in other race versions of the 911, reduce overall weight by 20 kg.

Deliveries of the new 911 GT3 Cup will start in September and the car will be available in this specification for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Pricing starts from €161,750 (~ US$228,700) not including local taxes.

New Porsche 911 Turbo S Anniversary Special Edition to celebrate 10 years in China – Latest info & photos Porsche 911 Turbo S Anniversary Special. BMW isn’t the only automaker releasing limited-edition models unique to the Chinese auto market.

This week, Porsche took the wraps off the new 911 Turbo S Anniversary Edition to celebrate 10 years in China. Only 10 cars will be built and all of them are destined for the Chinese market.

The package is purely cosmetic with the 911 Turbo finished in a Gold Bronze color contrasted by a carbon fiber hood and rear spoiler plus a gorgeous set of 19-inch Fuchs-style alloy wheels from the 911 Sport Classic. Inside, Porsche upholstered the special edition 911 in Alcantara and leather with bronze-gold stitching, and added carbon trim plus a new Sports Design steering wheel.

The anniversary edition of the 911 Turbo S is powered by the standard model’s 3.8-liter turbocharged flat six that’s good for 530-horses at 6,750 rpm and 700Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of peak torque delivered from 2,100 rpm to 4,250 rpm, linked to Porsche’s PDK gearbox. It can accelerate from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in 3.3 seconds and tops out at 315 km/h (196 mph).

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe 2011-2012 – Latest price & photos Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe: Just when everyone believed that the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 was going to be Porsche’s last version of its current 997 range, the Stuttgart-based carmaker announced yet another addition.

It’s called the 911 Carrera 4 GTS and it has been created by pairing the 911 Carrera GTS’s powertrain with an all-wheel drive system. Available as a Coupe and Cabriolet, the new model combines the 3.8-liter engine of the Carrera GTS with the German firm’s all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management system.

The 3.8-liter flat-six develops 408 horsepower at 7,300 rpm and 420 Nm (309.8 lb-ft) of torque from 4,200 to 5,600 rpm. With this setup, the Carrera 4 GTS Coupe sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds, while the Cabriolet does it in 4.8 seconds, which are identical times to the Carrera GTS. Both the coupe and the convertible are fitted as standard with a six-speed manual transmission, while a seven-speed PDK gearbox is available as an option. With the PDK, the Coupe reaches 100 km/h from a standing start in 4.4 seconds.

Fuel economy ratings are identical to the Carrera 4S, as the coupe is rated at 11 liters/100 km (21.4 mpg), while the convertible returns 11.2 liters/100 km (21 mpg). However, compared to the RWD Carrera GTS, the Carrera 4 GTS consumes an additional 0.5 liters of gasoline for every 100 kilometers.

Visually, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS models sport a reflective stripe between the taillights plus the type name on the doors and engine lid. The cars ride on standard 19-inch RS Spyder black wheels with central locking. Additional details include the Sport-Design front bumper with black painted spoiler lip and side skirts.

Inside, the sport seats feature black Alcantara lining, a material that also covers the lower side of the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel rim, gearshift and handbrake lever.

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe has a starting price of €111,956 ($158,930) in Germany, while the Cabriolet costs €122,071 ($173,290). Both models will go on sale from July 2011 in their home market.

In the U.S., sales start this fall, with the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupe available at a base MSRP price of $110,200 while the 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet is priced at $120,100.

Porsche Cayman S Black Edition 2011, Latest price & photos of Porsche Cayman S Black Edition 2011: Porsche is once again making use of its “Black Edition” nameplate for one of its models, this time for the Cayman S, which benefits from a power boost and additional standard equipment.

Limited to 500 units worldwide, the Cayman S Black Edition features an upgraded version of the 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, with output increased by 10 horsepower to 330HP at 7,400 rpm (200 rpm higher). Maximum torque remains unchanged, however, at 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) at 4,750 rpm.

The added ponies allow the Cayman S Black Edition to complete the standard sprint to 100km/h (62mph) 0.1 seconds faster at 5.1 seconds when the car is fitted with a six-speed manual transmision. With the optional Porsche PDK double-clutch box, the car performs even better achieving the sprint in 5 seconds flat.

For those still unimpressed, the limited edition Cayman can shave a further 0.2 seconds off the 0-100 km/h time with the optional Sport Chrono package and Launch Control activated. Top speed is also 2 km/h higher than on the standard Cayman S, with the Black Edition reaching 279 km/h (173 mph) with the manual transmission, and 277 km/h (172 mph) with the PDK gearbox.

As you’ve probably noticed by taking a peek at the photos, the Black Edition name comes from the extensive use of black on the car’s body and the interior. The bodywork and the 19-inch wheels are painted black, while the headlights are smoked as well. Inside, the car sports a black dashboard, gear lever and instrument dials and the “Black Edition” inscription on the stainless steel sills. The lid of the glove compartment bears the badge of the limited edition with the production number below.

The Cayman S Black Edition’s standard equipment includes Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering function and LED daytime running lights, anti-dazzle interior and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor, black seats with partial leather upholstery, automatic climate control, Sport Design steering wheel and cruise control. In addition, the Porsche Comfort, Infotainment and Design packages are also included. The starting price in Germany for the Cayman S Black Edition is €67,807 ($98,500), including VAT, while U.S. prices are even much lower starting from $67,500 (€45,600).

Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid Supercar 2011 Announces Pricing start at $845,000, latest info of Porsche’s new 918 Spyder 2011: We may be more than two years ahead of the production launch of Porsche’s new 918 Spyder, but that isn’t stopping the Stuttgart automaker from putting up a price tag and at the same time, begin accepting orders on its upcoming plug-in hybrid supercar.

The 918 Spyder will be Porsche’s most expensive model ever with prices in the USA, excluding destination and handling chargeς, starting at $845,000 (€598,000), and in Europe from €645,000 ($911,400) subject to VAT and country-specific charges.

As an extra treat, those who place an order for the 918 Spyder will also be eligible to buy a new special edition version of the 911 Turbo S series, more of which we’ll tell you about in our next post.

Production of the 918 Spyder will take place at Porsche’s Zuffenhausen plant in Germany starting from September 18, 2013, with delivery of the first vehicles to commence in November 2013. Porsche plans to limit production of the two-seater model to no more than 918 units worldwide. According to Porsche, “the earlier a customer orders his vehicle, the earlier it will be delivered, as production is initialized in the same sequence in which orders are received”.

The 918 Spyder is closely modeled after the concept study seen at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. However, the production version of the two-seater ditches the full open-top treatment for a manual roof system with removable roof panels that can be stowed in the front luggage compartment. Other changes visible from the official sketches include the addition of exterior mirrors and the elimination of the side exhaust tail pipes.

The flagship Porsche supercar is built around a carbon fibre-reinforced plastic monocoque and features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain that comprises of a V8 gasoline engine with a displacement exceeding four liters and output of more than 500HP plus two electric motors – one each on the front and rear axle – with a joint output of at least 218HP.

The V8 engine transfers its power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

The electric motors are fed via a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery that can be charged from a conventional domestic power socket, delivering a range in excess of 25 km (16 miles) in the NEDC on purely electric power. Porsche said the charging time depends on the country-specific mains network, being approximately three hours in Germany. The automaker added that a quick charging option is planned to reduce charging time yet further.

According to Porsche, the 918 Spyder’s combined total fuel consumption in the European driving cycle is estimated at 3.0 lt/100 km (94 mpg UK / 78.4 mpg US.), equating to CO2 emissions of 70 g/km (112 g/mile). Porsche said official EPA fuel economy figures for the US model will be announced just before the first customer cars begin arriving near the end of 2013.

The 918 Spyder can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of more than 320 km/h (199 mph). Porsche said the Spyder will be able to manage a lap of the Nürburgring in “less than seven minutes and 30 seconds”, compared to the Carrera GT which needs seven minutes and 32 seconds. The top speed on purely electric power is 150 km/h (94 mph).

Porsche Mansory Cayenne Turbo SUV 2011 with 690HP at Geneva 2011, latest info  Porsche Cayenne Turbo SUV 2011: Mansory put up quite a show in Geneva this week as the tuning house unveiled no less than three world premieres. Aside from the Mercedes SLS AMG Cormeum and the Ferrari 458 Italia Siracusa, that we’ve already told you about, the tuner’s Swiss subsidiary also revealed a new program for the latest generation of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo SUV.

The tune includes an excessive aero treatment with a wide-body kit that extends the vehicle by 60 mm at the front and 80 mm at the back and also comes with numerous carbon fiber parts such as the bonnet, side skirts and rear diffuser. New daytime running lights and a set of 22-inch black alloy wheels shod in massive 295/30 tires further differentiate the SUV’s looks from its factory sibling.

Under the bonnet, Mansory Switzerland upgrades the Cayenne Turbo’s 4.8-liter V8 with larger turbo chargers, a custom exhaust system, reprogrammed ECU and other mods resulting to an output of 690HP and 800Nm of peak torque at 4,800 rpm for a 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 300km/h (186 mph).

Mansory said buyers can also opt for a variety of interior enhancements and an electronic module for the air suspension to lower the SUV’s ride height by 45mm.

Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid Car 2011 Announces U.S. Pricing and Availability: The Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid will go on sale in the U.S. this November, with prices starting from $67,700, excluding destination charges. Rated by the EPA at 21 mpg in the city (11.2 lt/100 km) and 25 mpg on the highway (9.4 lt/100 km), the Cayenne S Hybrid will not be subject to a gas-guzzler tax, as is the case with all other 2011 Cayenne models.

To achieve such relatively low consumption figures, while nearly equaling in performance the 400 hp (298 kW) V8 Cayenne S, the hybrid variant of the firm’s SUV makes use of a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 gasoline engine, capable of delivering 333 hp (or 248 kW), and a 47-horsepower (34 kW) electric motor. The latter is able to power the German SUV at low speeds and for short distances, so you can minimize fuel consumption in heavy traffic.

Interaction between the motors is governed by the Hybrid Manager, which uses a decoupling clutch to power the car by either the electric motor or the combustion engine alone, or by both drive units together.

The hybrid system’s combined output is rated at 380 hp (279 kW) with a peak torque of 428 lb-ft (580 Nm) delivered at just 1,000 rpm.

Performance is equally good, as the Cayenne S Hybrid can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from standstill in just 6.1 seconds and continue on to a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h).

Porsche 911 GT2 RS 2011: It took a bit longer than GM’s $75,000 Neiman Marcus Camaro Convertible, which sold out in three minutes, but Porsche has managed to secure customer commitments for all 500 units of its limited production 911 GT2 RS less than two months after the supercar’s world premiere at the Moscow Auto Show in August.

According to the Stuttgart automaker, here in the U.S., the company has pre-sold 133 examples of the 911 GT2 RS, all of which will be delivered to their respective owners in February 2011.

The new 911 GT RS is motivated by a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine boosted by two turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, producing 620-horsepower and 700Nm or 516 lb-ft of peak torque. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox, with Porsche claiming 0-100km/h [62 mph] sprint time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 330 km/h [205 mph].

The company also states that the new 911 GT2 RS is the fastest and most powerful road-going Porsche ever built turning the Nürburgring race track in just 7 minutes and 18 seconds.

Anti Porsche Lawsuit luxury autos for 2010: In a continuation of the Porsche-Volkswagen takeover/stock controversy, 18 hedge funds added their names to a list of people taking Porsche to court in a $2 Billion lawsuit here in the States.
Porsche, Wendelin Wiedeking (former CEO), and Holger Härter (former CFO) are said to have committed fraud and “manipulated the market” over a four-year period in order to keep the company out of bankruptcy.

The alleged shady dealings were “an attempt to recoup large losses suffered by [Porsche, Wiedeking, and Härter] after a VW share price surge in 2008 triggered by Porsche’s takeover attempt on Europe’s largest carmaker.”

Porsche is said to have taken advantage of “a special type of options” which can be hidden (or not disclosed) according to laws in the Fatherland, in order to prevent the public from seeing exactly how much it had invested in VW.

In a statement, Porsche said: “We are currently examining the charges made in the lawsuit’s amended version and if necessary we will defend ourselves against those charges.”

People in contact with the various funds taking Porsche to court say damages claimed could be as high as $10 Billion. Ouch.

Porsche Panamera Black Autos 2010: In a lighter-than-usual take on the Porsche Panamera, German tuning house Techart has unveiled a surprisingly tasty cosmetic-only package for Stuttgart’s new four-door sports saloon. Aptly named “Black Edition”, Techart’s Panamera proposal is wrapped in a matte black vinyl film.

It also comes with the company’s Aerodynamic Kit I that includes side skirts, aprons, spoilers and daytime running lights, as well as with 22-inch alloy wheels in a black shade, new break calipers and a sport exhaust system with four tail pipes.

Inside, Techart has upgraded the Panamera Black Edition’s cabin with high-quality black leather combined with alcantara as well as hand-sewed decorative stitching and leather piping in flamenco red.

In addition, numerous interior components like trims, door entry guards, cup holder and the air vents are finished in a matte black design.

Porsche Autos: Boxster and Cayman Releases Four New Option Packages: Porsche is offering (at least in Europe) buyers a new choice of individualization options for the Boxster roadster and Cayman coupe with the release of two equipment (Comfort and Infotainment) and two design packages (Design and Design Sport) that add a host of bits and bobbles to the two cars.

Starting with the Comfort Package, it includes climate control, bi-xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights, cruise control, rain sensor and an embossed Porsche crest on the headrests. The package also adds a wind-deflector on the Boxster and Boxster S models.

As the name suggests, the Infotainment pack gets you the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system and the Sound Package Plus with seven speakers (185 watt) on the Boxster and nine on the Cayman (235 watt) as well as a CD changer and Bluetooth mobile phone preparation.

The entry-level design package enhances the sporty looks of the Boxster and Cayman with black-colored 19-inch alloy wheels and several interior and exterior features finished in black including the tailpipes, window surrounds, air vents, mirrors, cabin trim and in the case of the Boxster models, the roll bars also.

The Design Sport package adds Porsche’s aero kit that includes a front lip spoiler and a modified rear spoiler.

2011 Porsche Cayenne SUV – Breaking news: after more leaks than the Titanic, Porsche came out of hiding and released official photos and initial specs on its redesigned SUV model that will have its first public outing at next week’s Geneva Motor Show..

The verdict is still out on the new Cayenne’s styling, but from what we can tell by these images, the next generation of Porsche’s most profitable model looks less clumsy and a bit more sleeker than its predecessor thanks to a lowered roofline, steeper angle of the rear tailgate and sharper looking snout.

Then again there’s that awkwardly styled rear end that could be mistaken for any other SUV – Crossover model – you didn’t hear the word “Nissan” from us…

The interior has been redesigned from the ground up with the dashboard and center and lower consoles looking very similar to the Panamera sports sedan.

The new Cayenne shares its platform with the also new Volkswagen Touareg while using various mechanical bits and pieces from the Panamera.

And even though it has grown 40mm in length, like the Touareg, Porsche’s SUV model is somewhere around 200kg or about 440 pounds lighter than the outgoing Cayenne with the German claiming that fuel consumption is down by 23 per cent.

Also helping improve fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions is a new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission with Auto Start-Stop.

Engine options for the new Cayenne include the VW Group-sourced 3.6-liter V6 petrol with 300HP (also found in the Panamera) and 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel with 240HP, as well as a naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 with 400HP (Cayenne S) and a turbocharged version of the same V8 with 500HP (Cayenne Turbo).

The big news for the latest Cayenne, however, is the introduction of a Hybrid model motivated by the same diesel-electric hybrid drivetrain found on the Touareg. It couples a 3.3-liter supercharged V6 TSI producing 333HP and 265 lb-ft of torque to a 47HP electric motor for a total output of 380HP and 580Nm or 428 lb-ft.

The Cayenne Hybrid can cover short distances at speed of up to 60km/h or 40mph in pure electric mode. No performance or economy figures were released but the Germans claim that with CO2 emissions of 193g/km, the Cayenne Hybrid is the firm’s cleanest Porsche throughout the company’s entire portfolio.

The 2011 Cayenne will have its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show early next week and go on sale this Spring.
