2011 Nissan Rogue Receives Subtle Facelift: Having being on the market since 2007, it’s time for Nissan to give its Rogue compact crossover a mid-life facelift. Revealed ahead of the crossover’s first public outing this Staurday at the 23rd Annual International Z Car Convention in Nashville, the refreshed Rogue features new styling elements and equipment upgrades, while retaining the same mechanical hardware.

On the outside, the 2011 Rogue gets a restyled grille and a more sculptured front bumper. The crossover also benefits from different front and rear spoilers, chrome side door guard molding trim accents, new front and rear tire deflectors and a chrome license plate finisher plus new alloy wheel options.

Even the Rogue continues to be powered by the same 170-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine linked to an Xtronic CVT, thanks to the new low rolling resistance tires and an under-body cover, fuel economy has improved by 1 mpg for both Highway driving (FWD models) and City (AWD models). The new EPA estimates are 22/28 mpg City/Highway for the FWD Rogue and 22/26 mpg City/Highway for the AWD model.

For the 2011 model year, the Rogue will be offered in two trim levels, S and SV, along with the special edition Rogue S Krom that comes with a unique front grille and rear fascia, center-exit sport-tuned exhaust and 18-inch alloy wheels. Details on pricing will be released closer to the launch date in mid-August.

Ford Explorer SUV 2011 with 290HP 3.5-liter V6 and 235HP 2.0-liter Turbo: Ford’s frustrating striptease tactics came to an end today with the official unveiling of the all-new Explorer SUV (or shall we say, crossover?) that goes on sale in the U.S. at the end of the year with pricing said to start $1,000 less than the current base model at $28,995. More details on prices will be released closer to the launch date.

The new Explorer marks a significant departure from the outgoing version as the 7-seater model switched from a heavy body-on-frame to the same unibody structure with independent from and rear suspension used on the Ford Taurus sedan and Flex crossover, as well as on the Lincoln MKS.

Ford says that while adding significant content to the vehicle, engineers were able to reduce total vehicle weight by almost 100 pounds through the use of lighter materials such as an aluminum hood.

Another important change is that there won’t be a V8 option on the 2011 Explorer. Instead, Ford’s full size SUV will be offered with a base 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering an estimated 290HP and 255 lb.-ft. of torque, and 20 percent better fuel economy versus the current Explorer. Ford said that with a towing package, the V6 can haul up to 5,000 pounds, which around 2,000 pounds less than the outgoing model.

As an option (in other words, with a higher price tag) the next Explorer can be equipped with Ford’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost petrol producing a projected 237HP at 5,500 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,700 rpm. The company claims that with this engine, estimated fuel economy improves by more than 30 percent, putting the SUV in line with sedans such as the 2010 Toyota Camry V6.

Both engines are hooked up to a six-speed automat6ic transmission. There’s nothing official yet, but it is expected that Ford’s 355HP, 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 EcoBoost will be added to the range in the near future.

The four-cylinder Ecoboost is offered only in front-wheel drive configuration while the V6 model can be equipped optionally with a new, intelligent all-wheel-drive system developed with formerly Ford-owned Land Rover.

The AWD features a Land Rover-like terrain management system with four settings (normal, mud, sand and snow) controlled via a console-mounted knob. Each setting provides unique engine behavior, throttle tip-in, transmission shift scheduling and calibrations for traction and stability control systems. This system also includes a hill descent mode that provides engine braking when descending a steep incline.

Other highlights include the standard AdvanceTracwith RSC system with Curve Control functionality to provide braking optimized by each individual wheel, and the optional Adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with cross-traffic alert.

The all-new Explorer will be available in three trim series levels – base, XLT and Limited. For more details on the standard equipment check out the list below.

2011 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG Facelift with New 5.5-liter Bi-Turbo V8, and Revised CL65 AMG: Less than a month after taking the wraps off the regular CL-Class facelift models, Mercedes-Benz went ahead and revealed the flagship versions of its über luxury coupe, the 2011 CL63 and CL65 AMG models. Both cars will have their world premiere at the Paris Motor Show and arrive in U.S. showrooms in November.

On the outside, there are some subtle styling tweaks on both AMG models such as the redesigned front bumper with LED daytime running lights, the more “V”-shaped grille, a contoured hood, larger headlamps and a reworked rear bumper with newly styled tail pipes. Interior revisions are limited to the new steering wheel, higher-quality trim materials and different color options.

The most important changes, however, are in areas you can’t see. Starting with the CL63 AMG, out goes the old naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 and in comes the smaller, lighter yet more powerful 5.5-liter V8 with twin-turbocharging and direct-injection technology, hooked up to an AMG Speedshift 7-speed automatic.

In standard form, it churns out 536HP at 5,500 rpm and 590 lb-ft of torque from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm propelling the CL63 AMG from zero to 60mph (96km/h) in 4.4 seconds, and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250km/h).

Add the optional AMG Performance package, and output climbs to 563HP and 664 lb-ft of torque allowing the coupe to reach the 60mph (96km/h) mark in 4.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph (299km/h).

Mercedes says despite the power and torque increase, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by around 27 percent and 30 percent respectively over the older naturally aspirated V8.

In addition the new engine, the 2011 CL63 AMG receives three new systems as standard (Direct-Steer, Torque Vectoring Brake and crosswind stabilization) that promise to improve handling and safety.

Meanwhile, the range-topping CL65 AMG continues to use a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. However, AMG engineers have tweaked the V12 unit which now produces an additional 17HP for a total output of 621HP, while torque remains the same at 738 lb-ft. The car is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph (96km/h) in 4.2 seconds continuing to a limited top speed of 186mph (299km/h).

Audi A7 Sportback – New Audi Auto 2011: The first official images of the all new Audi A7 Sportback are making the internet rounds today ahead of the sport saloon’s debut on Monday. These photos, which were sent our way by Carscoop reader Enrico, prove that the production car has stayed remarkably true to the 2009 Detroit Show concept’s appearance.

Most differences concern practical details such as the shape and size of the exterior mirrors, and the air-inlets on the front bumper. The car also keeps the show car’s five-door body style with a practical rear hatch.

In a similar fashion, the styling of the interior is almost identical to the concept, sans the colors and the decorative trim. From what we know, the just-under 5-meters long A7 Sportback will be strictly for four passengers.

Mechanically, the A5 Sportback’s (see photos here) big brother is heavily based on the next generation of the A6 and according to our sources, at launch it will be offered with both diesel and gasoline V6 engines including the new 3.0-liter TSI unit with some 290-horsepower. It goes without saying that the A7 Sportback will be available with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system and S-tronic dual clutch transmissions.

Expect to see performance-oriented S7 and RS7 variants, as well as a hybrid model being added to the range within the next year or so.

The A7 Sportback will slot between the A6 and A8 executive saloons with its main competitors being the new Mercedes-Benz CLS and the BMW 5-Series GT (at least until BMW unveils the production version of the Gran Coupe).

2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe with New 3.8 V6 R-Spec Model: Hyundai’s successful Genesis Coupe is entering the 2011 model year in the U.S. with some minor interior refinements, but most importantly, a new hotter model called the “3.8 R-Spec”.
Previously available only in conjunction with the 210HP 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the R-Spec trim level can now be ordered with the 3.8-liter V6 engine that delivers 306-horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque on regular unleaded, hooked up exclusively to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The R-Spec treatment does away with some non-essential comfort features such as automatic headlights, cruise control and certain trim bits adding a track-tuned, stiffer suspension, 19-inch alloys shod in Bridgestone Potenza tires, limited slip differential and Brembo brakes with 13.4-inch front discs and 13.0-inch rear discs. Sportier seats and special badging are also part of the package.

New 3.8 R-Spec model aside, all 2011 Genesis Coupe models benefit from interior improvements including new soft-touch materials on the door panels, center speaker grille, glove box, and lower instrument panel as well as on the steering wheel, cloth-wrapped A-pillars, different finishes on the shift bezel, dashboard knobs and instrument gauge cluster rings.

Hyundai has not yet announced pricing for the 2011 Genesis Coupe.

Kia Sportage 2011Pricing Released, Starts from $18,990: Kia announced today that its all-new 2011 Sportage compact crossover goes on sale in the U.S. at the end of the July with a starting price of $18,990, which includes a $695 destination and handling fee. There are three trim levels, Base, LX and EX. Standard safety features include ABS, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and six airbags.

At launch, the South Korean firm’s fully redesigned crossover comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 176HP, while returning 22mpg in the city and 31mpg on the highway. A far more potent 2.0-liter turbocharged GDI petrol engine with 270+ horsepower will join the range next year.

The Sportage will be offered in both front-wheel- and all-wheel-drive configurations paired to either a 6-speed manual gearbox (Base) or a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Base model, which is available only with a manual transmission, offers several standard features such as air conditioning, power windows, door locks and mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels matched with 215/70R16 low-rolling resistance tires, SIRIUS Satellite Radio capabilities with three months complimentary service, MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth wireless technology.

Upgrading to the $20,990 LX trim adds a 6-speed automatic transmission, exterior mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, privacy glass, keyless entry with panic alarm and multi-way adjustable front seats.

Finally, the more luxurious Sportage EX costs $23,990 and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, illuminated vanity mirrors, automatic folding rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and air-conditioned and illuminated glove box.

BMW Releases Details on M Sport Package for 2011 X3 SUV: The all-new, second iteration of the X3 SUV was only just introduced the other day, but BMW has already released photos and details of the available M Sports Package.
For an unspecified amount, BMW will spice up the exterior looks of the new X3 with a body-colored kit that includes a new front bumper with larger air-intakes, side skirts and a new rear bumper with a matte black diffuser. In addition, the window surrounds and roof rails are finished a high-gloss black color while the SUV rides on 19-inch M alloy wheels.

Inside, the package adds an M Sports multifunction steering wheel and gear lever with short throws, sport seats and various other touches.

Performance upgrades are limited to a specially tuned M sport suspension.

Hyundai Elantra Avante 2011: If you have been wondering what the interior of the all-new 2011 Elantra, or as it is known in its home market, the Avante MD, looks like, here’s the first official photo of the compact sedan’s cabin.

As expected, the overall design of the dashboard continues the same “sculpted” theme seen on the new Sonata’s interior, enhanced with more edges and swoopy lines. It also gets an instrument panel with a pair of tunneled main gauges (speedometer and tachometer), as well as unique controls for the HVAC system on the center console and plenty of faux metal trim.

The new Elantra launches in South Korea with Hyundai’s new 1.6-liter direct injection straight four petrol engine, which puts out 140-horsepower and 166Nm or 122 lb-ft of peak torque, and prices ranging between 14,900,000 Won and 19,500,000 Won (about US$12,300 to $16,100).

Infiniti Prices New M37 Saloon from £35,150 in the UK: Infiniti’s has released pricing on its UK market M37 model that’s powered by a 3.7-litre petrol V6 engine The Japanese firm’s BMW 5-Series rival will be available in five different grades priced from £35,150. The M range will be extended by the M30d diesel in October and the M35 hybrid in spring 2011, with prices and specifications for these versions to be announced at a later date.

The M37 is motivated by Infiniti’s 3.7-litre petrol V6 churning out 316 bhp (320 PS) that propels the four-door saloon from 0-62mph (100km/h) in 6.2 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is 27.7 mpg UK while CO2 emissions are 235 g/km.

The base M37 is priced at £35,150 and comes equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission, bi-Xenon lights, 10-way power front seats, reversing camera, hard disk drive (HDD) sound system and the firm’s new Drive Mode Selector which tailors key driving parameters to Sport, Normal, Snow and Eco settings.

The M37 GT start from £37,650 adding semi-aniline leather, heated and ventilated front seats and White Ash wood trim with silver powder finish. Next up is the M37S, which costs £39,650 and adds 4-Wheel Active Steering (4WAS), sports suspension, sports seats (also heated and ventilated), gearshift paddles and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Infiniti also offers “Premium” versions of both the GT (from £43,000) and the S (from £45,000). These get a Dynamic Safety Shield package, Forest Air, a 16-speaker Bose sound system and the Connectiviti+ information and entertainment platform comprising 30GB HDD navigation.

In addition, the Premium versions also feature a system called “Eco Pedal”, which helps reduce fuel consumption by push back the accelerator pedal on the driver’s foot when it detects excess pressure and poor fuel efficiency.

Fiat-500-Blackjack-with-New-Special-Edition

Fiat 500 Blackjack with New Special Edition 2011: Fiat has announced a new limited edition version of the 500 city car, which will go on sale across Europe (including Britain) in September. Called, appropriately enough, the 500 Blackjack, the special mini is decked out in a matte black finish with glossy black details such as the door handles, exterior mirrors, fog lamp surrounds and bumper trims. The car rides on 16-inch black alloy wheels with a red frame on the center, while some variants also get red brake calipers.

The package also upgrades the interior with seats upholstered in red leather or alternatively, in black leather and fabric, unique trim and silver seams on the leather steering wheel and gear knob.

The 500 Blackjack will be available with all engines in the range including the new TwinAir 85HP 0.9-liter two-cylinder turbo petrol. Prices in Italy start from €13,850.

2011 Mercedes-Benz E63: The almighty Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is entering the 2011 model year with some interior revisions in the form of “ARTICO” leather appointments on the upper section of the dashboard and door beltlines and new black piano lacquer finish trim on the upper section of the center console.

In addition to these standard upgrades, Mercedes-Benz is also offering new optional appointments with the introduction of the “Designo Leather II” in which the lower section of the dashboard, the glove compartment lid, the door linings including map pockets and the side upholstery of the centre console are covered in exclusive nappa leather.

This option will cost buyers in Europe €4700.50 (about US$6,050) and is only available in conjunction with the “Designo Leather I” package, which is priced at €2,856 (around US$3,670) adding special black leather on the upper section of the dashboard and the upper door linings.

There are no mechanical changes as the 2011 E63 AMG continues to use the same 525HP 6.2-liter V8 linked to AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, propelling the car from standstill to 100 km/h (62mph) in 4.5 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155mph).

In Germany, the E 63 AMG saloon is available for €105,791 while its Estate sibling is priced at €108,409. Mercedes did not say if these changes will pass on to the North American model.

2011-Nissan-X-Trail

2011 Nissan X Trail: You’re looking at the refreshed Japanese domestic market [JDM] version of the Nissan X-Trail, a compact SUV model sold in Europe, Japan and other parts of the world but not in the States. For the 2011MY, there’s the subtlest of design tweaks, mainly to the front end and the interior, plus a new diesel version and equipment upgrades.

On the outside, the JDM 2011 X-Trail gains a redesigned front grille, front bumper and headlights, along with a reworked rear bumper and new LED tail lamps. There’s also a new model called ‘X-Tremer’ boasting unique bumpers and alloy wheels.

In the interior, the X-Trail is spruced up with a redesigned instrument panel featuring larger dials and a new information display system, fresh colors and additional standard features.

For the first time since its introduction in 2008, the diesel-powered X-Trail 20GT will be available with a new 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter diesel unit produces 170-horsepower and 360Nm / 265 lb-ft of peak torque. Furthermore, Nissan has introduced a new an “Advanced Hill Descent Control” fitted with a speed-setting function.

The 2011 X-Trail goes on sale in Japan on July 16, with prices ranging from 2,239,650 yen to 3,139,500 yen [US$25,700-36,000].

Nissan did not say if any of these changes will pass on to the European market version of the X-Trail.
